Love lighthouses. Can;t wait to do this one in my sketchbook. First, gotta find which box my pastels are in.

I have used Caran D'ache crayons and a dark green water-colour pencil for mine.

I never had an art class really unless ya count the free for all in HS that guaranteed😅 an easy A. My older sister told me to turn my drawings upside down to find errors in my drawings. It never occurred to do this from the beginning..thanks I appreciate the tip. At 60 yrs old and still learning new things ..love it.

Why does everybody teaching this always only uses examples of placing the vanishing point of the light on the distant visual horizon? The light could be, not the sun, but a lamp standing right beside the object or anywhere in front of or even behind myself, thus, the direction would drastically change accordingly -

I often use a cheap makeup brushes from dollar tree for this work. They're usually very soft and are perfect. They work with graphite powder, too. U thought I'd be able to use the water soluable oils, but they still require thinner and it messes with my breathing. Grr...

Beautiful painting! You answered my questions on how to use black watercolor paper which I bought by mistake. Now I’m anxious to try it with gouache.

My creative side is pretty good but my drawing skills ... zilch. I still draw a cat with two circles and triangle ears with three circles on his stomach. I used this method years ago and drew a horse jumping a hurdle with a rider on his back, upside down and it was wonderful. Then I gave up drawing because I got busy. Thanks for the reminder, I will do it again.

Why is it always iguanas ppl paint? Trying to find tools for a realistic watercolor chameleon because they have weird scalation thats difficult to replicate. Probably why i can only find cartoonish paintings or tutorials. At least this is easy enough to follow for colour schemes and values and has been a help there (seriously, do you have any idea how hard it is to paint a chameleon realistically? Especially with the weird scalation and trying to pick out a colour sceme that doesnt look like a i took LSD beforehand? Iguanas at least have a nice balanced colour scheme.)
